Our History
In 1956, Bob Martinez began Ankmar Garage Doors as an installer in Denver, CO. Bob started the business with a $500 loan to buy his first pick-up truck. The name is created by combining Martinez with the Ankley name, an original partner. The partnership was brief, but the name continues. Ankmar garage door production began in Bob’s basement. Ankmar has always focused on producing a quality product in line with the needs of Colorado. While providing installation focused on builder activity, Wholesale customers have always been a priority. The Wholesale operation drove the need to open the Loveland location in 2001. In 2005, Bob Martinez felt as though he had made his mark in the Colorado garage door industry and decided to retire. Ankmar Garage Doors continues to follow Bob’s legacy in Colorado as a leading garage door provider to Wholesale customers. To this day, Ankmar Garage Doors is still fabricating custom wood garage doors in our Denver warehouse. A few members of the team are still fabricating doors just as they did with Bob’s direction decades ago.
Ankmar Garage Doors has since added additional relationships with local and national vendors to suit all the garage door needs for our Wholesale customers. Ankmar Garage Doors has the widest select of Residential and Commercial steel, aluminum, wood, and fiberglass garage doors along with the electric operators to match.
